The Bar List: March 2015

LOOKING GLASS COCKTAIL CLUB, E2

The team at Looking Glass London live and breathe everything weird and wonderful, incorporating childlike creativity and imagination into everything that they do; from the events they host to the parties they throw. So it’ll come as no surprise that the cocktails must be seen to be believed. There’s a secret room behind the main bar, go exploring.

HAPPINESS FORGETS, N1

Happiness Forgets is a bar that serves high-end cocktails from a low rent basement in Hoxton. It’s the sister of one of our favourite cocktail spots, Original Sin. There’s a short list of original cocktails, with great twists on classic ideas.

THREE EIGHT FOUR, SW9

Three Eight Four is a small plates restaurant and cocktail bar in Brixton. The food takes inspiration from a variety of cuisines, creating a rounded small plates menu to cater for different tastes. Bartenders use experimental techniques and boutique spirits to create an interesting and seasonal drinks menu.

HUNTER S, N1

The Hunter S stands on the corner of Southgate Road & Tottenham Road in the heart of Hackney's De Beauvoir. Inside the iconic building is a unique pub, with great food and booze. The owners love Hunter S Thomson’s idiosyncratic style, so they’ve decorated the pub with his signature oversized taxidermy, risqué artwork (ahem…) and a uniquely crafted copper ceiling.

CAHOOTS, W1

Cahoots is keeping the Blitz spirit alive with dazzling cocktails and extravagant late night parties set in London's 'underground'.

CROSS KEYS, WC2

If you think the facade of this foliage-covered Covent Garden fringe pub is ornate, wait till you get inside. Now reopened, the modestly-scaled, interior houses a cornucopia of ornaments, mirrors, pictures, horse brasses, road signs, brass pots, and even the odd stuffed fish. As if that weren't enough, there's a small collection of Beatles memorabilia, and a napkin signed by Elvis Presley.

THE ITALIAN JOB PUB

Located in the heart of London’s district of Chiswick, The Italian Job is the first Italian craft beer pub in the United Kingdom. The pub offers a choice of 12 rotating beers on draught (10 taps and two hand-pumps) beside a diverse bottled beer selection, as well as wine and spirits.
