Event managers from a selection of the UK’s most prominent charities were invited to April’s Special Event Manager Forum, which was sponsored by the Concerto Group and held at the Guildhall.
Guests included representatives from Save the Children, Macmillan Cancer Support, Sparks, Action Against Hunger, Marie Curie, Age UK, Chickenshed Theatre and Right to Play, to name but a few.
Guests were greeted with a welcome drink of Lavender Fizz and treats from Create Food & Party Design, before taking part in workshop sessions. These included discussions on working with third parties, raising the maximum funds from events and how to dispel the myths of what guests really want from fundraising events.
Following the conference in the Basinghall Suite, guests moved in to the East Crypt for dinner, where Pinstripes and Peonies had provided stunning floral décor.
Dinner was catered by Concerto-owned caterer Create Food & Party Design. The award-winning caterer pulled out all the stops to create something truly exceptional. It all began with a selection of canapés, created by the caterer’s new Development Chef, Euan Peach. The canapés included pig head croquette, seaweed with pickled turnip and Japanese mayonnaise, tuna ceviche with avocado puree and blood peach caviar, goat’s cheese and raspberry lollipops and much more.
Guests were then served a main course of salt-baked shoulder of lamb with roast garlic and kombu puree, wild garlic, lamb and seaweed ragout, or “Cauliflower cheese” – pot-roasted cauliflower, baked cheese and split onion sauce. Dessert was a warm chocolate mousse, cryogenic chocolate aero, peanut and fresh lime.
This was followed by petit fours: strawberry beer marshmallow and white chocolate caramel with hibiscus. Served in Create’s theatrical style, the petit fours were encased in chocolate shells, within what looked to be a bird’s nest… guests could only uncover their final course by cracking open the shells with the tools provided!
