Our wedding venue The Conservatory at Painshill has been featured in Stylist Magazine this morning. Stylist caught up with one of our recent couples, Dilpa and Ben, to find out all about their big day – and get some tips for future brides.
DILPA AND BEN'S WEDDING
VISION: for our first event, we wanted to combine traditional Indian customs with modern influences. For our second, we wanted a ‘garden party’ civil ceremony.
BRIDEZILLA CREDNTIALS: Dilpa organised two weddings, flying between her job in Singapore and family in the UK to do so.
BEST TIP: Having a secret Pinterest board just for us as a couple was a great way to collaborate on ideas.
LOCATION AND VENUE
If you’re having an outdoor wedding make sure you have a wet weather contingency plan you’re really happy with. Our wedding day was threatened with a hurricane but knowing we’d be equally happy getting married in the Larmer Tree’s vintage pavilion made things far less stressful.
We decorated our tables with Polaroid’s of each guest from Instajunction – they will turn Facebook photos into Polaroids. We inserted them into old corks as place settings.
FOOD AND DRINK
We hired two mixologists from The Bespoke Bartender. They served ‘Dilpa’s Gindian Sling’ - a take on the Singapore sling and ‘Bens Highland Fling’ – a whisky sour.
Good photographers need to be unobtrusive on the day, fun and flexible. As soon as we met our photographer Andy Rankins we clicked. Booking the right photographer is essential as is securing them early. Make sure you’re clear on what you’re buying in your package such as an online gallery and photobook.
We had a New Orleans-style jazz band called The Blind Tigers for our reception and a band called Club Classic in the evening who played live Ibiza-style house music. Ben even contacted the singer from The Bluetones to ask him to perform and he obliged!
Set within the enchanting walled garden of Painshill Park, The Conservatory is the ideal wedding venue. Situated in Cobham, Surrey, this romantic venue has all you’ll need to create your perfect civil ceremony or Asian wedding ceremony and wedding reception. Find out more at painshillevents.co.uk.
