Richard Branson’s Virgin Trains Music Festival

Founder of the Virgin Group Richard Branson is a firm believer in the importance of parties. In fact he’s been throwing a yearly bash for Virgin employees from the very beginning of the company.

Virgin Trains staff and their families were this year invited to parties at the Branson family home in Oxfordshire - and Virgin pulled out all the stops to create a series of events that were worthy of their dedicated staff.

A mini festival was created for the occasion, complete with big top tents and clowns as well as performances by The Cuban Brothers, Sister Sledge, The Correspondents, Sam Smith, Rob Da Bank and more.

Create Food & Party Design was on hand to provide festival-inspired food at each of the three September parties, providing a huge range of cuisines to tempt up to 3500 guests.

The chosen food stalls were fully themed for the occasion, and given some frankly inspired names!

The finest of Scottish burgers were served at an All American Diner. Create’s own kebab machines sizzled with marinated leg of lamb wrapped with delicious tabbouleh from the Abra-Kebab-Ra stall and Chinese inspired noodles and prawn crackers awaited at Wok This Way. It was pistou pasta with parma ham and parmesan at Hey Pesto, or guests could head on over to the Korma Chameleon stand for a delicious creamy chicken korma with spices and almonds! It doesn’t get much better than that.

Guests were invited to bring their tents and while away the evenings around log fires, playing guitars and singing until the early hours of the morning, for the true festival experience.

Branson knows that when it comes to motivating staff a party just can’t be beaten. He said “It’s great when companies look after their people and celebrate their successes. If your staff feel valued, appreciated and loved, they are more likely to enjoy their work and perform even better. So here’s to parties, and celebrating what makes great companies what they are – groups of wonderful people working together to make a difference.” We’d have to agree!

Managing Director of Create Food & Party Design, Caroline Gardiner said: “We were delighted to be asked to work with Virgin on this project and loved getting involved with it all. We have had plenty of first-hand experience of parties and definitely agree that parties motivate staff as well as thanking them for all their hard work. There should be lots more!”
